Valentines Day Table Setting Ideas and Prizes for You
Whether you’re hosting a romantic dinner for two or a brunch for friends and family, creating a lovely setting for a Valentine’s Day function can be lots of fun. Once you’ve decided on the number of guests you’re inviting over, choose a romantic spot either in the garden under some shady trees or on the patio.
When choosing table decorations, don’t be afraid to make non-traditional choices.
Make sure that you focus on the décor as much as you do on the food. Preparing the meal can take a lot of time and effort, so in the meanwhile, here are quick and easy ways of decorating your table.
Kerry Abramowitz from TableArt shares some tips:
Use creative placemats and table linen
Placemats and table linen provide the design details that make your table setting what it is. From these you can create a custom look, introduce colour or establish a pattern.
It’s a good idea to have a theme or colour scheme around which to create your table setting. Start with disposable placemats from TableArt as they make cleaning up a breeze. Don’t be afraid to make non-traditional choices, for instance, you could try a flower motif or make use of a black and white, yellow or blue theme.
Opting for black and white placemats, for instance, lets you bring in any colour crockery, serviettes or tablecloth that you want.

And once you’re done with the disposable placemats, you can simply pop them in the recycling bin.
If you have a beautiful table and you’d like to show it off, arrange the placemats directly on the table. Alternatively, you could pair the placemats with an attractive runner in a contrasting colour to create a chic effect.
The placemats work just as beautifully with a tablecloth, and placing them on top of the tablecloth will protect it from food spills and grime.
Pick a blend of accessories
Once you’ve picked your placemats and linen, gather the plates, serviettes, forks and knives, glassware, candles and so forth that you would like to use for your luncheon or dinner party.
Instead of using identical pieces, choose a mix of accessories to give your table some ‘movement’. For example, you might want to pair contemporary crockery with traditional glassware, or embroidered napkins with paper placemats.

To add a celebratory touch, tie your napkins or cutlery with ribbon or twine and, if you’re expecting a few more people for your get-together, use place cards and menus.
If you’re hosting your Valentine’s celebration in the evening, don’t forget to place lots of candles. You could use a cluster ofGlow Lights, which are covers you can place around tea light candles to create a lovely ambience.
If you’re entertaining outdoors at night, use the Glow Lights with citronella candles to ward off unwanted insects.
You could also put out a small gift for each guest. A beautiful rose or heart-shaped chocolate or two will not only add to your décor, but also make your visitors feel special.
Use a simple centrepiece
When it comes to choosing the centrepiece, you needn’t go overboard. Keep it simple and use what you already own.

Fruit like lemons and herbs make a fresh statement on your table, as do flowers. You can put these in a bowl or elegant vase. Use a cluster of vases with a single rose in each vase to create a line of centrepieces, or decorate your table with one big arrangement of flowers.
You can do this with candles too - dainty tea lights in a line, or a single lantern candle, will add a lovely glow.
Whatever table setting décor you choose for Valentine’s Day, don’t be afraid to experiment. Look around your home for any unusual containers that could be used for vases or as serving bowls. Use lots of greenery from your garden to bring nature indoors and prepare some exciting new dishes to tempt the taste buds.
Enjoy!
